V3.1.22

Note: This version is not the same as the most recent BETA. If you are using the BETA, it is recommended that you upgrade to this release version until the next BETA is released.

† IMPORTANT NOTE: This version of BadgeGen will reset all BadgeGen settings. Any tags for the special caches (like the Night-Owl Badge for example) will not be affected. Make sure you record any settings from the main form that you may want to transfer over.

Changes since last version:

1) Optional refresh of placed database
In order to get complete data for the new "Favorite Cacher" badge, your placed caches must be regularly refreshed via the Groundspeak API. You can either do this manually or have BadgeGen do this for you every time you run BadgeGen. Uncheck the "Perform Refresh" check box on the options form to disable this feature.

2) New/Improved "Display" options
- BadgeGen now allows badges under a user-determined level to be hidden from view. Choose the minimum level for which badges will be displayed. All badges will be displayed in the "More Information" table, regardless of this option.
- Reworked the badge categories as some badges had "fallen through the cracks".

3) Directory for storage of files.
- BadgeGen now stores all temporary and settings files in a "BadgeGen" folder in your macros folder. † *

* The BadgeGenSupplementaryNotes.txt must still be placed directly in your macros folder. The macro still outputs to the old folder for backwards compatibility with FindStatGen <file> tags.

4) Archiving of outputs
BadgeGen now archives the last output of your badges per date. The files are stored in your macros folder under /BadgeGen/Archive/ and are named with the date. You can now monitor your progression and see what badges have changed from your last run.

5) Improved FindStatGen integration
BadgeGen now uses the <file></file> tags and will no longer requires a dedicated Notes section. Integration of BadgeGen with FindStatGen will no longer overwrite the notes section. Users who were using the previous integration method will now have two outputs in the designated FindStatGen notes section. The old notes must be manually removed through FindStatGen settings.

6) Log Check
BadgeGen will check to see if your database is missing any found logs. If it is, BadgeGen will offer to get logs for the suspect caches in an attempt to fix the problem.

7) Offer to GetLogs for "found" database
BadgeGen will offer to do a one-time GetLogs for all found caches in your database. This is the only reliable way to get the data required for the new "Shutterbug" badge as only logs downloaded through the API will include information on attached images. This automatic upload will take a long time (sometimes hours) because of restrictions that Groundspeak puts in place. If you do not have many uploaded images, you can significantly reduce the amount of time required by following the recommendation here.
This message will only appear once (if you perform the update) and five times if you choose to skip the update.

NEW BADGES

a) The Shutterbug: Awarded for the total number of images uploaded to found logs. (If this badge is not appearing for you, please see new feature #7 above)

V3.1.25

Change since last version:

1) Shutterbug Badge re-added
Now uses a single API call to retrieve data. The badge is now based on the total number of images in your gallery. I believe this includes any type of log (found, DNF, trackable logs, etc.). Depending on the data collected, the badge requirements for this badge may require adjusting to keep it consistent with the current model, so please don't get too attached to your current status.

V3.1.28b
Due to the change that only affects the scuba cacher badge, I am not incrementing the version number. It would be a waste of many cachers' time to update to this version.

Change since last upload:

1) Fixed problem with scuba badge when 9 scuba caches found. (see here for more information)

V3.2.00

Well, it's been a year since the last major release (aside from minor fixes). It's been a busy year for me so I want to thank everyone for being patient with me. I also want to thank the many volunteers who hang out in the GSAK threads and help users who are having difficulties...I don't have time to reply to every forum post/email and I thank those of you who help out in this area. Have a Merry Christmas, happy holidays, and a great New Year!

-Kyle

And now the exciting stuff:

Major/Significant changes since 3.1.28:

1) Belt system overhaul (Major change)
See www.badgegen.com/belts.html for more information on how the new belts are awarded.

2) All date calculations use g_gcDate() function instead of lDate
Some date-related badges were calculated incorrectly, which should now be fixed.

3) Elevation macro runs silently
The elevation macro will no longer require interaction and will not display a summary when run from within BadgeGen.

4) New "More Information" buttons

5) Bronze flag badges now awarded after a single cache is found in the country.

6) Sans-Serif font in More Information table

7) Blank state field check
Macro checks to see if "State" field is blank for all caches for which the user has selected the country. A message will be shown if missing data could interfere with expected output. See here for more information)

8) Optionally separate Flag Badges from other badges.
Sorting options also apply when separated:
user posted image

9) "Perform Refresh" button defaults to being disabled with new users
Should help prevent an excess of new users maxing out their available API calls

10) Flag badges now use static images
Should not be noticeable for most users, but flag badges are no longer dynamically generated when required. Should improve load times when the server is busy.

Please, do not complain about the changes to the BadgeGen belt system. It has been about a year since the BETA was released and feedback has already been taken into consideration and changes have been made. There will be no more changes to the belt system requirements for the foreseeable future.

V3.2.01

Changes since 3.2.00:

1) Fixed the error reported here
This only occurred when a user had less than 100 finds. No need to upgrade if you have more than 100 finds.

V3.2.03

Changes since last version:

1) Speed fix as suggested here.
Thanks kmpoppe! (We're talking about milliseconds here, so don't expect to notice an improvement, but every little bit helps!)

2) New belt criteria to coincide with new badge.
See BadgeGen.com/belts.html or the macro output for details.

Not specific to this version, but I hope to be slowly rolling out fixes to some of the badge graphics over the next little while. They'll be automatically upgraded without the need to update/run the macro. (You may have noticed that I have updated The Traditional Cacher and The Multi Cacher badges already)

NEW BADGE

a) The Diverse Cacher: Awarded for the number of distinct cache types found on day with most distinct cache types.

V3.2.09

Changes since 3.2.04:

1) The Diverse Cacher Levels change. Diamond now awarded for 10 types in a day. Silver and Emerald levels removed. See "Available Badges" for more information.

2) Diverse Cacher correction. Correction to the calculation of the Diverse Cacher badge to count multiple finds of the same geocache.

3) Ape Cache Badge. No longer displayed in More Information table if at least bronze is not achieved. Since it's impossible to get more than bronze (if you don't already have a bronze), the badge won't appear anywhere on the output if you don't qualify. Eventually, if this feature works as planned, the Lost and Found badge will have the same thing done to it.

and other minor changes.

I should also mention that I'm running out of geocoins, so if you are planning on purchasing one, you should do so soon.

V3.2.10

ky.m.guy, the BadgeGen macro's author, has stated that he is on a hiatus from active macro support (more information). Although I do not want to adopt or take over maintenance of the macro, there has been a change in the Geocaching.com API that caused a problem updating the ShutterBug badge (more information), which lead to quite a few requests for help in the GSAK forums.

I don't think ky.m.guy would mind if I post an update of his macro that fixes that problem, rather than requiring each BadgeGen user to manually update their copy of the macro. The attached update fixes the Shutterbug badge problem.

I am not the author of this macro, nor am I adopting or supporting it. The feedback/support thread for the macro is here.
