This was originally written in response to this post
Basically the macro will generate the from and to dates required to generate PQs to keep your database (of a particular area) up to date, then display this list in your browser. Currently the macro generates dates that will yield 490 caches to allow for the fact that a cache might now meet your filter requirements (become un archived for example). However, it is easy to change this via the $MaxCaches variable The macro currently sets a filter to "un archived" caches. However, if you would rather just used a saved filter to set you selection critera then change the code as shown in the comments. Keywords: Pocket, Query, Placed, date, PlacedPQ.gsk |

Version 2.1
This macro is based on the macro originally written by Clyde (above) and modified by lignumaqua to take advantage of GSAK 7.7. I've agreed to adopt the macro from Clyde. Change: The macro now has a form that allows you to choose whether you want to include a maximum of 490 caches in your Pocket Queries (so that they will be emailed by geocaching.com) or a maximum of 990 caches in your Pocket Queries (which you will have to download from the Pocket Query page). The first time you run this version of the macro, you will see this form: ![]() Select the number of caches you want in your PQ's. Your choice will be saved and the form will not appear on subsequent runs of the macro. If you want to change the number of caches in the future, hold down the SHIFT key on your keyboard when you start the macro. Please post comments or questions in this thread (click here). Version 2.2
Updated to include a user configurable "buffer" value per this suggestion by beejay. When run for the first time, the macro will display this form: ![]() Using the drop down (1), the user can choose the size of the "buffer" for caches that may be reactivated (i.e. changed from archived to not archived by geocaching.com) so that the total size of the Pocket Query does not exceed 500/1000 in those cases. You may choose a buffer of 0 to 20 caches, and the form will be updated to reflect the size of the buffer selected (i.e. the form will show the maximum number of caches in each PQ based on the selected buffer size): ![]() If you choose a buffer size of "0", the macro will provide the dates for a PQ with no buffer (i.e. the maximum value will be set to either 500 or 1000). Regardless of the size of the buffer, you then can choose the 500 caches or fewer PQ (which will be emailed) or the 1000 caches or fewer PQ (which you will have to download from the PQ page at gc.com). All settings are saved for the next time the macro is run. NOTE: If you've previously run the macro, you will need to hold down the SHIFT key on your keyboard to display the settings form. I strongly recommend anyone upgrading from version 2.1 to version 2.2 of the macro to hold down the SHIFT key the first time you run the macro so that you can confirm that the settings are correct. Version 2.3 In response to several user requests (click here), the macro will now respect a filter that is set before the PlacedPQ macro is run and it will work correctly from inside a "wrapper" macro. If you want to run the macro against a select subset of caches (e.g. only puzzle caches), set the filter (Search>Filter) first, then run the macro. If you want to run the macro against a series of filters, first save the filters, then create a wrapper macro. For example, let's say that you want to generate separate PQ's for your home zone, a vacation zone, and the zone around a city where your sister Irene lives. First, save three filters and name them "Home", "Vacation" and "Irene". You can then use a wrapper macro like the following to automatically apply the filters and generate the PlacedPQ report for each filter:

Version 2.35
1) Fixes a bug that resulted from an errant space in a line of code that only runs when there is no filter set. 2) Adds the name of a saved filter to the output header. If the macro is run on a database with no filter or with a filter applied "on the fly" (e.g. by user flag set, or by distance, etc) you will see this in the header: ![]() If the macro is run on a database to which a saved (named) filter has been applied, you will see this (the saved filter name in this example is "All Available Caches"): ![]() Please post questions, comments or suggestions in this thread (click here). Version 2.36
Changes: 1) Allows for up to 999 PQ's to address increased number of PQ's allowed by geocaching.com, per this request, by converting the PQ number to three digits. 2) Tweaked the spacing in the output to make it a little easier to read. ![]() (Number of downloads: (72) This macro has been updated - please scroll down for the latest version. -------------------- Volunteer GSAK Forums Administrator

Version 2.40:
In response to this request, I've added an option to display the dates in "geocaching.com format", i.e. as they are shown on the Pocket Query page at geocaching.com: ![]() The macro form with this new option looks like this (remember, if you've run the macro previously, you must hold down the SHIFT key when you run the macro to display the options form): ![]() If that box is not checked, the date format will be numeric in accordance with the users's selected "Date Format" on GSAK's Tools>Options, General tab, as in earlier versions of the macro. If that box is checked, the output will be in the form of Month DD, YYYY: ![]() Note that at the present time the optional display is only available in English and in US date format, both at geocaching.com and in the macro. Version 2.5:
Version 2.5 of the macro restores a filter that was set before the macro was run, if any. The macro has always respected a filter, now it will also restore that filter. Note: this will not work if you have a joined filter set before running the macro. If you don't know what a joined filter is, don't worry about it.
